Keeping its previous positioning as “Classic Hits Of The 70s, 80s And More”, WBZO is adding two hours of commercial-free music at 9:00am daily. The station will completely revamp its airstaff with Jim Douglas, most recently in mornings at CBS’ “Fresh 102.7” WWFS New York joining Kelly Dyson in mornings. Following their acquisition of 102.9 WDRC-FM Hartford, Connoisseur Media has filed to adjust the patterns of it and adjacent channel sister 103.1 WBZO Bay Shore, NY. Both stations will retain their current tower heights and power; 19.5kW at 247 meters for WDRC-FM and 1.55kW at 141 meters for WBZO. WDRC-FM will adjust from non-directional to a directional array, while WBZO will shift to non-directional. The move will allow WBZO to put a city-grade signal over the north shore of Long Island with less interference from WDRC-FM. B103 will shift to a more Rock based playlist with new positioning of “Long Island’s Classic Hits of the 70’s, 80’s and More!” The move comes with a changes to their airstaff as morning co-host Frank Brinka and afternoon host Keith Allen have exited the station. Connoisseur Media has purchased Barnstable Broadcasting’s Long Island Radio Group for $23 Million. The four stations involved in the sale are 90s Hits “94X” 94.3 WIGX, AC “98.3 K-Joy” WKJY, Classic Hits “B103” WBZO, and Standards 1100 WHLI. Connoisseur currently operates 22 other stations in Bloomington IL, Huntington WV, Billing, MT, Wichita KS, Erie PA, Omaha NE, Rapid City SD, and Bismarck ND. Barnstable previously sold Classic Rock 103.9 WRCN and what is now Country 96.1 WJVC from their Long Island cluster to JVC Media for $3 Million in October 2010.
