Entravision Resurrects Jose & Super Estrella Brands In Southern California

Entravision is bringing back two brands that it had jettisoned from the Los Angeles market in recent years. In January of this year, the Spanish Adult Hits trimulcast of “Jose” 97.5 KLYY Riverside/103.1 KDLD Santa Monica/103.1 KDLE Newport Beach had flipped to Regional Mexican “La Tricolor“. In May, KLYY reversed course and returned to its previous format and name as “Jose 97.5“. At that time KDLD and KDLE moved to a temporary simulcast of Spanish AC “La Suavecita 107.1” KSSC Ventura/KSSD Fallbrook/KSSE Arcadia. On Thursday, July 26, that simulcast will come to an end as the two 103.1 stations will restore the “Super Estrella” brand name that had lived on 107.1 from 2003-2016 (and 97.5/103.1 before that). What started as Rock en E...[Read More]

Entravision Brings La Tricolor To Los Angeles; Suavecita To 11 Markets

Entravision made format changes in twelve markets Monday as it has eliminated the Spanish Adult Hits “José” brand from its portfolio along with its final Spanish CHR “Super Estrella” station. Two of the markets where José had operated have flipped to Regional Mexican “La Tricolor“. Those are the Los Angeles/Inland Empire trimulcast of 97.5 KLYY Riverside/103.1 KDLD Santa Monica/103.1 KDLE Newport Beach and 105.9 KRZY-FM Santa Fe/Albuquerque NM. The Los Angeles station will feature the Los Metiches Show in mornings. Formerly known as the LMShow, it had aired in afternoons on many of Entravision’s now former José stations. In the eleven other markets, Entravision is launching its “Suavecita” brand. Suavecita debuted in December 2016 in th...[Read More]

Indie 103.1 Los Angeles To Become “El Gato”

Update 1/17/09 3:00pm: As expected, KDLD/KDLE flipped to Regional Mexican as “El Gato” at midnight. Update 2:30pm: At 10:00am PST, Indie 103.1 signed-off with Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. The station is now stunting with a 5 song loop interspersed with announcements that the station is moving to an internet-only operation. This is an important message for the Indie 103.1 Radio Audience – Indie 103.1 will cease broadcasting over this frequency effective immediately. Because of changes in the radio industry and the way radio audiences are measured, stations in this market are being forced to play too much Britney, Puffy and alternative music that is neither new nor cutting edge. Due to these challenges, Indie 103.1 was recently faced with only one option R...[Read More]
