Sunny 103 Salt Lake City To Go All 80’s

Capitol Broadcasting’ AC “Sunny 103.1” KSQN Coalville/Salt Lake City will flip to Alternative based 80s Hits “103.1 The Wave” on Monday, October 3. The new format will feature many former Salt Lake City personalities including Cuzzin Brad in mornings, Chet ‘The Pinhead’ Tapp in middays, Stacee in afternoons, and Andrea at night. The station will mimic the format of Tapp’s now-defunct KCQNUtah.com. Tapp spent 15 years at Alternative “96X” KXRK and later teamed with Brad in mornings at Classic Alternative “103.1 KJQ” KJQN. KSQN registered a 1.1 share in the September 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings.

Sunny Shines In Salt Lake City

Update 6/5: 103.1 has finally dropped its simulcast of 1430 KLO and flipped to AC “Sunny 103“, nearly three months after changing call letters to KSQN. The new station is branding itself as “The Best Variety of the 70s Thru Today”. Original Report 3/21: Capital Broadcasting is planning a change in Salt Lake City. Conservative Talk 103.1 KLO-FM Coalville changed call letters to KSQN on Thursday. Concurrently Sunny103FM.com was registered anonymously. KLO-FM and simulcast partner 1430 KLO Salt Lake City registered a 0.5 share in the February PPM ratings released this week. Our expectation is a Soft AC format to flank sister Hot AC “Now 97.9” KBZN to compete with Bonneville’s market leading 100.3 KSFI.
