Entercom has completed the move of Urban Oldies “Hot 103.7” 1350 WWWL/W279DF New Orleans to 92.9. The move was caused by the upgrade and move of W279DF to 92.9 with a higher antenna height of 250w/197m to increase its coverage of the market. No programming changes accompanied the frequency change. Entercom, the #1 creator of live, original, local audio content in the United States, announced today the relaunch of New Orleans classic R&B station HOT 103.7 as The New HOT 92.9 FM (W225CZ). Nearly a year to the day after debuting as a younger skewing Urban AC, Entercom’s “Hot 103.7” 1350 WWWL/103.7 W279DF New Orleans relaunched with Classic R&B on Valentines Day at 12pm. Focusing on R&B from the 1970s and 80s, the station is now attacking iHeartMedia Urban AC 98.5 WYLD-FM and Cumulus Media’s “Old School 106.7” KMEZ from the older end as opposed to the younger. Chris Wegmann Named Entercom New Orleans Market Manager

Entercom has announced that former Radio One Radio Division President Chris Wegmann will come out of retirement to serve as Vice President and Market Manager for its New Orleans cluster. Wegmann fills to opening created by the retirement of Chris Claus earlier this month. The 40 year radio veteran will oversee News/Talk 870 WWL/105.3 WWL-FM, Classic Rock “95.7 The Bayou” WKBU, CHR “B97” 97.1 WEZB, AC “Magic 101.9” WLMG, and Urban AC “Hot 103.7” 1350 WWWL/103.7 W279DF. Entercom has finally gotten around to officially announcing the launch of Urban AC “Hot 103.7” 1350 WWWL/103.7 W279DF New Orleans. The station, which launched on February 9, also announced its morning and afternoon on-air personalities. Abraham ‘Big Abe’ Johnson, who previously hosted mornings at Cumulus Urban “Power 102.9” KKND in the market joins WWWL for mornings. Terrence ‘Terry Bello’ Burton joins the station as MD/Afternoon host. The new format directly attacks iHeartMedia market leading Urban AC 98.5 WYLD-FM and Cumulus’ “Old School 106.7” KMEZ with a younger skewing take on the format.
