Bre Ruiz Joins Sir Mix-A-Lot In Mornings At Hot 103.7 Seattle

Former 102.5 KSFM Sacramento Music Director/Midday Host Bre Ruiz is rejoining Entercom to serve as Sir Mix-A-Lot’s co-host in mornings at Classic Hip-Hop “Hot 103.7” KHTP Tacoma/Seattle. Ruiz exited KSFM in April with the rest of the local staff of the station. She also served as MD at Country 105.1 KNCI. Sir Mix-A-Lot To Mornings; Eric Powers PD/Afternoons At Hot 103.7 Seattle

Entercom Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 103.7” KHTP Tacoma/Seattle has appointed Eric Powers as its new PD/Afternoon host and Anthony Ray, better known as rapper Sir Mix-A-Lot as morning host. Powers, the longtime PD at Rhythmic CHR 93.3 KUBE until its flip to Mainstream CHR “Power 93.3“, will fill the Programming role most recently held by Mike Preston until his February exit. Mike Preston Exits As KHTP/KKWF Seattle PD

After seven plus years with the company, Mike Preston is stepping down as Program Director of Entercom Country “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF and Classic Hip-Hop “Hot 103.7” KHTP Seattle at the end of February. This was Preston’s second run in Seattle as he previously OM/PD of 96.5 KJAQ and 106.1 KBKS for CBS Radio from 1997-2006. He also was APD/MD of ABC’s 95.5 WPLJ New York from 1989-1997 and VP/Programming of CBS Radio San Francisco from 2006 until January 2009. Entercom Seattle VP/Programming Dave Richards will add KHTP and KKWF to his duties until a replacement is named.

Hot 103.7 Seattle Fills Morning Vacancy

Entercom Rhythmic AC “Hot 103.7” KHTP Seattle has filled its morning vacancy with the addition of Deanna Cruz from Cumulus Rhythmic CHR “Hot 106.3” WWKX Providence. Cruz, who currently hosts the “Rise & Grind” morning show at WWKX with Vezzy Parmesan, will debut on KHTP in early August. She replaces Candy & Potter who were dismissed from the station in March. Entercom’s New HOT 103.7 (KHTP) proudly announces Deanna Cruz as the new morning show host. Cruz will join the station for wake-ups in the beginning of August. Entercom Rhythmic AC “Hot 103.7” KHTP Seattle has begun staffing up. Candy & Potter, most recently at Country “Q106.3” WWQM Madison, WI will return to the Seattle market to host mornings beginning on January 22, 2014. The duo began their radio career at CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KBKS Seattle and also hosted mornings at CBS’ Country 94.1 KMPS along with stations in Albany and Charlotte. KHTP has also hired Kristin The Island Girl for middays. Kristin previously hosted middays at KBKS from 2001 to 2009. Some thoughts on a few of the format changes that took place this past week… KMTT To Rhythmic Hot AC The biggest and most surprising format change to take place over Labor Day Weekend was Entercom’s shift of “103.7 The Mountain” KMTT Seattle to Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 103.7“. KMTT had struggled since the implementation of the PPM and jettisoned all its AAA currents/recurrents in 2011 for a full Classic Rock presentation in an attempt to streamline its brand. The new format has also had its issues in Seattle. 106.1 KBKS in the mid 90’s, “95.7 The Beat” KBTB in the early 2000’s, and “Movin 92.5” KQMV from 2006-2009 all attempted formats similar to what 103.7 is doing now and failed. Entercom flipped AAA “103.7 The Mountain” KMTT Seattle to Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 103.7” at 3pm today. Branded as “The Rhythm Of Seattle”, the station is focusing on current hits mixed with Rhythmic gold of the past 20 years. The station is launching with 10,000 songs in a row. Mike Preston, PD of Country “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF and previously PD of crosstown CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KBKS will program the station.
