Kevin Musselman Named Adams Fort Wayne VP/GM

Adams Radio Group has promoted Kevin Musselman from Director of Sales to Vice President/General Manager of its Fort Wayne IN cluster. He succeeds Chris Monk, who exited last month to become Regional Vice President of Cumulus’ Saginaw and Flint MI clusters. Musselman joined Adams in 2014 when it closed on its purchase of its Fort Wayne stations. He worked for Federated Media from 2007-2012 including time as GM of 102.7 WLEG Ligonier. Adams Radio Group has named Kevin Musselman VP & GM for it Fort Wayne, Indiana cluster. Soft Rock 103.9 Fort Wayne To Rebrand As Sunny-FM

Adams Radio Group AC “Soft Rock 103.9” WWFW Fort Wayne IN will rebrand as “103.9 Sunny-FM” on Monday, December 26. The station has been branding itself as “Christmas 103.9” since it began its annual shift to holiday music to start phasing out the old brand. The station’s lineup will remain intact with the new name. INSTANT INSIGHT: While WWFW launched in 2014, the now former branding was stuck in 1986. Adams Radio CHR “Hot 107.9” WJFX New Haven/Fort Wayne IN has hired Patrick Grey to host nights starting Wednesday, May 11. Grey joins WJFX from Mainestream Media Rhythmic CHR “Hot 104.7” WHTP Portland ME where he spent three years in nights and then mornings. Station Moves Telesouth Communications is canceling its previously granted CP to upgrade 103.1 WOSM Ocean Springs/Biloxi, MS from a Class C2 with 50kW at 140 meters to a C1 with 100kW at 180 meters at the request of Apex Broadcasting. Concurrently WOSM has proposed to remain at its current tower with an increase to 150 meters (Coverage Map). At the same time Apex’ 103.1 WZLB Valparaiso/Fort Walton Beach applies to relocate to a new tower site upgrading from 50kW at 114.4 meters to 50kW at 145.8 meters (Coverage Map). Soft Rock 103.9 Fort Wayne Debuts

Adams Radio’s revamp of its Fort Wayne cluster continued this evening as the company launched AC “Soft Rock 103.9” WWFW at 10:39pm. Launching with Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” and Roxette’s “Must Have Been Love”, the new format positions WWFW against Sarkes Tarzian’s “95.1 Best-FM” WAJI. That station relaunched from “Majic 95.1” in March as it tweaked its format to skew its AC format a bit younger. The company had sent a press release out earlier on Friday announcing a 5pm launch. WWFW had gone off the air on Thursday to make an emergency move of its transmitter to a new tower site after the base of its tower began sinking into the landfill it was built on. Adams Begins Fort Wayne Changes

Update 6/11: WXKE completed its shift from 103.9 to 96.3 at midnight as “Rock 104” relaunched as “96.3 XKE“. The two stations will simulcast until later this month when a new format will debut on what will become 103.9 WWFW. Update 6/2: Adams has closed on the Fort Wayne stations and the changes have begun. 106.3 WHPP Columbia City dropped its 90s Hits “Rewind” for Catholic “Redeemer Radio” as its ownership passes to Fort Wayne Catholic Radio. Oldies 102.9 WGL-FM Huntington will be swapped to Calvary Radio Network for translator 103.3 W277AK Fort Wayne. 90s Hits “Rewind 106.3” WHPP Columbia City will be swapped to Ft. Wayne Catholic Radio for 1450 WLYV Fort Wayne. (Taylor inadvertantly pegs it as 1570 WGLL Auburn) Following the closings of all the sales, Adams Radio Group will own 93.3 WBTU, 96.3 WNHT, 103.3 W277AK, 103.9 WXKE, 107.9 WJHT, 1250 WGL, and 1450 WLYV in the Fort Wayne market.
