Entercom continue to revamp the markets it acquired from CBS Radio as two more Market Managers have exited the company. The Philadelphia Business Journal confirms that Steve Swenson has exited as head of the company’s Washington DC cluster, a role he had held under CBS since 2011 after previously overseeing that company’s two All-News stations in New York. Phil Zachary, who moved from Entercom Boston to his native Hartford upon completion of the merger, will now relocate to Washington. Zachary oversaw Classic Rock 94.7 WARW and Alternative 99.1 WHFS for CBS Radio from 1996-2001 before becoming President/COO of Curtis Media Group. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported last week that Michael Young exited that role in Pittsburgh. Young had been with the cluster since 1996 and had b...[Read More]

Riviera Broadcasting and Trumper Communications have announced a merger that will bring together their Phoenix area Hot AC’s. Trumper’s “Hot 97.5” KMVA Dewey-Humboldt and Riviera’s “My 103.9” KEXX Gilbert will combine on January 1 to form “Hot 97.5/103.9“. Each station covers opposite ends of the Phoenix market with KMVA serving the west side and KEXX strongest in the East. Why have the web domains for Riviera Broadcasting’s “My 103.9” KEXX Phoenix been transferred to Clear Channel? MyPhoenixRadio.com and MyPhoenixMusic.com are now owned by Clear Channel. While still in use for KEXX, is this the first sign that Clear Channel owns the rights to “My” in Arizona and will require a rebranding at 103.9? Clear Channel relaunched 92.9 in Tucson as “My 92.9” on November 18 of last year. KEXX began using the “My” moniker on January 12. Clear Channel does own the national trademark on “MY FM”. Riviera owns Spanish CHR “95.1 Latino Vibe” KVIB, Rhythmic CHR “Power 98.3” KKFR, and KEXX in the Phoenix market. Clear Channel owns News/Talk 550 KFYI, Sports “Xtra 910” KGME, S...[Read More]
