Cumulus Appoints New Mobile Market Manager

Cumulus Media has promoted Don Boyd to VP/Market Manager of its five stations in Mobile AL. Boyd has spent the past three years as General Sales Manager for the company’s Atlanta GA properties and also worked for the company from 2001-2008 as GSM of its Nashville properties. He has also served as Regional Manager for Bott Radio Network, Vice President of Advertising for Dickey Publishing, Regional Generl Manager of Root Communications during his career. Boyd replaces Angel Brown, who exited Cumulus to join iHeartMedia Norfolk as Market President in June. Jimmy Steele Joins Cumulus Mobile As Operations Manager

Cumulus Media has appointed Jimmy Steele as Operations Manager for its five stations in Mobile AL and Program Director of Conservative Talk 660 WXQW. Steele most recently served as PD/Morning Host of iHeartMedia Rock AC “Y102.5” WRFY and Spanish CHR “Rumba 92.3” 1340 WRAW Reading PA until his exit in February. WABD Returning Home To 97.5

Update 7/10: The deal includes two parts. Cumulus is trading 97.1 WRQQ Nashville to EMF for 97.5 WLVM. EMF will then pay Cumulus $1.6 Million for the license of WDLT. Original Report 7/9: Cumulus CHR 104.1 WABD Mobile announced this morning that it will relocate back to its “original home” of 97.5 on Sunday, July 15 at 12pm. WABD launched on March 1 picking up the format and airstaff of 97.5 WABB-FM following that station’s sale and format change to Christian AC “K-Love” WLVM. FCC Report: WYAY Files Atlanta Move

Update 6/6: The FCC has dismissed WYAY’s applications to change city of license to Sandy Springs and to move to 106.5 at Cumulus’ request. Clear Channel had petitioned the FCC to dismiss the 106.5 application as well. Original Report 5/15: Cumulus has applied to move 106.7 WYAY Gainesville/Atlanta into Atlanta proper. With an application pending to change its city of license to Sandy Springs, Cumulus has applied to shift the station’s transmitter to Atlanta and a frequency adjustment to 106.5. The station would operate with 100kW at 299 meters with directional lobes to the northeast and southwest. Hear the launch at the Format Change Archive. Update 7:30pm: At 5:00pm Central Time, WYOK began stunting with TV theme songs as “TV 104”. Original Post 3/18/09 4:43pm: Cumulus Broadcasting is planning on flipping Country “Kicks 104.1” WYOK Atmore, AL to Variety Hits “104.1 Jack-FM“. Jack104Online.com was registered yesterday and a site is already up with the new logo and links to WYOK’s stream. The station is located halfway between Mobile and Pensacola, FL targeting both markets.
