Station Sales Week Of 8/24: Sale Leads To Format Change In Sylacauga AL

Lake Broadcasting Inc. agrees to purchase News/Talk 1340 WFEB and 100.9 W265DV Sylacauga AL from Powers Broadcasting Company for $150,000. The buyer, who owns “Kowaliga Country 97.5” WKGA Goodwater AL, began operating the station via Time Brokerage Agreement on August 1 and flipped the station to AC “B101” this week. After beginning to operate 88.1 WCRJ Jacksonville FL via LMA on August 1, Radio Training Network will purchase the station from Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting for $2.25 million. Two months after Media Advisors flipped Alternative “X98.9” KRQX Hurricane/St. George, UT to Classic Hits, Canyon Media has returned the X brand to the market. 96.3 K242BV St. George has launched Active Rock “96X“, positioned as “Rock St. George”. The new format flanks sister Classic Rock “95.9 The Hawk” KZHK. Canyon Media acquired K242BV along with two other translators in October for $144,000. Another one of those, 101.5 K268BT Shivwits has applied to complete its move to 104.1 with 250 watts at 1038 meters where it will shortly debut as Spanish Adult Hits “Juan 104.1“. Station Sales Week Of 10/10

Translator Sales Steve Hegwood’s Core Communicators is converting its lease of 94.5 W233BF Atlanta into a purchase. Edgewater Broadcasting will receive $53,000 for the translator, which currently operates as Urban “Streetz 94.5” via a rebroadcast of 94.1 WSTR-HD3. Hegwood had previously applied to purchase the translator in 2010 for $60,000, but that deal never closed. Curtis Media’s Eastern Airwaves adds yet another Raleigh area translator with the acquisition of the CP for 93.3 W227CU Cary from Juan Alberto Ayala for $150,000. Curtis will utilize the translator to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of their 94.7 WQDR Raleigh pending an additional modification to the CP. Patricia J.
