WAYI Louisville Currently Silent; Applies For Call Change

Update 4/29: As Way Media’s LMA of 93.9 WAYI Sellersburg/Louisville comes to a close, the station has gone silent following three plus weeks of redirecting listeners to 104.3 WAYG Charlestown, IN and 105.9 WAYK Valley Station, KY. As Cumulus prepares to retake control of the station it owns, the company has filed to change WAYI’s call letters back to WLCL. The WLCL call letters were used by the station as “Classic Hits 93.9” from November 2008 until changed to WAYI in April 2011. Two Louisville FM’s Change Formats

Update 2/13: Union Broadcasting will convert its LMA of 105.7 WTUV-FM into an outright purchase. Union will pay $325,000 for the station that rimshots the eastern side of the Louisville market. Davidson Media will retain Regional Mexican “La Poderosa 620” WTUV. Original Report 2/2: A pair of changes have taken place in the Louisville area this weekend. Union Broadcasting’s “ESPN 680” WHBE Louisville has gained an FM simulcast on the eastern side of the market. Davidson Media’s 105.7 WTUV-FM Eminence, KY has flipped from a simulcast of sister Regional Mexican “La Poderosa 620” WTUV to a simulcast of WHBE. Louie Comes Back To Louisville

Update 2/15: “Louie 104.3” debuted yesterday as an 80’s heavy AC branded as “Louisville’s Favorites”. The station will become the Louisville affiliate of Delilah, who was dropped by Cox’ “Lite 106.9” WVEZ in November. Update 2/1: 104.3 returned to the air today simulcasting 1570 WNDA with the WLUE-FM calls replacing WWPW. Update 1/25: Following the registration of Louie1043.com, a few more domains were registered for the station: Sports1043.com and 1043TheZone.com. It also appears that New Albany Broadcasting will be operating 104.3 when it returns to the air. The WLUE calls have been placed on the former 1600 WTSZ Eminence, KY. 104.3 The Beat Louisville Goes Dark

Way Media’s 104.3 WWPW Charlestown, IN/Louisville has gone dark. Radio-Multi-Media, Inc who had been leasing the station since March 2010 as Urban “104.3 The Beat” filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations of the station. Way Media has applied for Special Temporary Authority to take the station dark as they will be unable to provide a programming feed to the transmitter site for several weeks. Way Media also operates Christian Rock “Way-FM” 93.9 WAYI and Christian AC “Shine 105.9” WSYI in the Louisville market.
