WPTK Raleigh Launches Just Right Radio

With the removal of Talk from 850 WPTK Raleigh, Curtis Media has flipped it and its new translators 104.7 W284CP Raleigh and 104.7 W284CD Youngsville to Oldies “Just Right Radio“. Owner Don Curtis told the Raleigh News & Observer that the new format will feature “a wide variety of songs, on purpose, going back to the late ’50s. We’re playing songs we think go together by ear, not by era. FCC Applications 10/5: Translator On The Move Into Austin

Station Moves Beasley (Soon to be CBS) Sports 560 WQAM Miami has applied to relocate to the tower of Salem’s 1450 WOCN. The owners of the station’s tower site on Virginia Key notified WQAM and co-tenant 1360 WKAT earlier this year that their leases will not be renewed. At the new site where WQAM will join WKAT and WOCN it will drop its daytime power from its current 5kW to 4.1kW. Nighttime power will remain at 1kW. Curtis Media Continues To Accumulate NC Translators

Curtis Media’s Eastern Airwaves subsidiary is continuing to accumulate translators across North Carolina. In two deals announced this week, Eastern Airwaves will acquire four translators from Wake Forest University while making a one for two swap with Educational Media Foundation. In the Wake Forest deal, Eastern Airwaves will acquire 104.7 W284BN Greensboro, and the Construction Permits for 94.5 W233BY, 96.5 W243DH, and 99.5 W258CL all in Boone for $190,000. W284BN is licensed to operate with 13 watts at 103.3 meters and will rebroadcast Sports 1320 WCOG Greensboro (Coverage Map).
