iHeartMedia has launched “Cherry Blossom Radio” on 104.7 W284CQ/WWDC-HD2 Washington DC. The new micro-format is featuring a mix of 1980s Hits, promotions for events connected to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, and traffic/weather reports. The Cherry Blossom Festival runs from March 15 through April 16. 104.7 had been running a mix of Active Rock and Washington Capitals hockey since ending a rebroadcast of CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT in January.
The NHL’s Washington Capitals will have their games heard on iHeartMedia’s 104.7 W284CQ Washington DC/101.1 WWDC-HD2 starting with tonight’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. W284CQ has been rebroadcasting CHR “Hot 99.5” WIHT Washington since its launch last summer. The Capitals have not had all of their games broadcast on radio this season as they are bumped off Hubbard’s “Federal News Radio” 1500 WFED when they conflict with the NBA’s Washington Wizards or other programming.
