WWNO To Launch Classical 104.9 New Orleans

University of New Orleans Public News/Talk “New Orleans Public Radio” 89.9 WWNO New Orleans will launch “Classical 104.9” K285FF Metairie in January 2017. K285FF will carry the programming currently heard on WWNO-HD2 syndicated by WFMT Chicago. WWNO purchased K285FF from Crocodile Broadcasting Corporation in August for $200,000. They applied last week to upgrade the translator to 250w/300m from WWNO’s tower.

Station Sales Colorado Public Radio is swapping Indie Rock “Open Air” 1340 KVOQ Denver to Cedar Cove Broadcasting for Spanish Christian “Radio Nueva Vida” 88.3 KRKY-FM Fort Collins and the cancellation of a $100,000 promissory note due to Cedar Cover affiliate Mountain Community Translators by Colorado Public Radio. Horizon Broadcasting Group is transferring impending Portland move-in 96.3 KWLZ-FM West Linn, OR to 3 Horizons LLC, a partnership between Horizon and 3 Cities Broadcasting. 3 Cities owns AC “Mixx 96.1” KXXO Olympia/Tacoma, WA, which is required to build a new facility before KWLZ-FM moves into the Portland market. WIST New Orleans Sold To Catholic Operator

George Buck’s GHB Broadcasting has agreed to sell Sports 690 WIST New Orleans and its FM translator 104.9 K285FF Metairie to Catholic Community Radio. The sale price was not disclosed in the FCC application. Catholic Community Radio currently owns and operates 1380 WPYR Baton Rouge. WIST currently programs a mix of local sports talk and programming from Yahoo! Sports Radio. Buck will continue as President and 60% owner of Oldies 94.3 WTIX-FM in the New Orleans market.
