Cumulus Adds Woody Show In Kansas City, New Orleans & Salt Lake City

Following the addition of Premiere Networks’ The Woody Show at AAA 104.5 KFOG San Francisco/97.7 KFFG San Jose last month, Cumulus Media is adding the show at its Alternative stations in Kansas City, New Orleans and Salt Lake City. The Woody Show will debut on “Alt 92.3” WRKN Laplace/New Orleans, “Alt 101.9” KHTB Ogden/Salt Lake City, and “X105.1” KCJK Garden City/Kansas City on Monday, May 21. WRKN had been jockless in mornings, while The Woody Show replaces Fook and Lindsey at KHTB and Shawn Quinn at KCJK. Cumulus Media has made a pair of programming appointments in its Kansas City cluster. Mike O’Reilly, Program Director/Afternoon Host of CHR “95.7 The Vibe” KCHZ Ottawa KS will add programming duties at Alternative “X105.1” KCJK Garden City. Concurrently, former “105.1 The Bounce” WMGC Detroit Program Director Al Payne will join the company to program Urban AC “Magic 107.3” KMJK Garden City. Shawn Quinn is making the move from his owned Hagerstown MD based webcaster to mornings in Kansas City. Cumulus Alternative “X105.1” KCJK Kansas City has hired its first on-air staffer. Matt Malone, most recently with the now defunct “New Rock 107.3” KURQ San Luis Obispo will serve as Assistant Program Director and Afternoon Host at KCJK. It is a return to Cumulus for Malone, who interned and later served as a Producer and Programming Assistant at Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM Chicago. X105.1 Debuts In Kansas City; Jack Moves To 102.5

As we first reported last week, Cumulus moved Alternative “102.5 The Underground” K273BZ/KCMO-HD2 Kansas City to the full powered 105.1 KCJK as “X105.1” at 7:30 this morning. That move will send Variety Hits “105.1 Jack-FM” in reverse to 102.5. KCJK had been tied for 13th in the Kansas City market with a 3.6 share, while the Alternative format, which launched last November held a 0.8 share. “X105.1” is debuting with the typical 10,000 songs in a row commercial free and gives a full-powered competitor to Entercom’s “96.5 The Buzz” KRBZ. FCC Report: WYAY Files Atlanta Move

Update 6/6: The FCC has dismissed WYAY’s applications to change city of license to Sandy Springs and to move to 106.5 at Cumulus’ request. Clear Channel had petitioned the FCC to dismiss the 106.5 application as well. Original Report 5/15: Cumulus has applied to move 106.7 WYAY Gainesville/Atlanta into Atlanta proper. With an application pending to change its city of license to Sandy Springs, Cumulus has applied to shift the station’s transmitter to Atlanta and a frequency adjustment to 106.5. The station would operate with 100kW at 299 meters with directional lobes to the northeast and southwest.
