Telesouth Swaps Frequencies In Northern Mississippi

Telesouth Communications has played musical chairs with its properties serving Oxford and Batesville, MS. The “Supertalk Mississippi” network programming moved from the Class A signal of 105.5 WTNM Water Valley to the Class C3 of 93.7 WQLJ Oxford. Moving in reverse is the Hot AC format of “Q93.7” as it becomes “Q105“. To make up for the coverage deficiency of 105.5 as compared to 93.7, Telesouth has begun operating Flinn Broadcasting’s 105.1 WOXF Oxford and is simulcasting “Q105” on it. WOXF was most recently simulcasting Flinn’s Classic Hip-Hop “Bumpin 96” WIVG Tunica/Memphis.

Phantom Haunts Northern Mississippi

Update 3/11: With KBUD flipping to the Phantom format, the Alternative format has shifted to new sign-on 105.1 WOXF Oxford. “X105.1” is licensed to operate with 1.6kW at 142 meters, but is closer to Oxford and the University of Mississippi campus that the station is targeting than KBUD.
