EMF Buys In Palm Springs & Richmond

Educational Media Foundation continues its growth with the purchase of stations in Palm Springs and Richmond VA. In Palm Springs, EMF acquires Classic Hits “Valley 105.1” KVGH-FM Bermuda Dunes from S&H Broadcasting for $1.125 million. EMF intends to flip the station to its Christian AC “K-Love” network as a satellite of 91.9 KLVR Middletown CA. The Classic Hits format may survive as S&H sister company retains simulcaster 1270 KVGH Palm Desert, which holds a CP for a new translator 106.5 K293CL Spring Valley as well as Soft AC “CV 104.3” KHCV Mecca. FCC Report 9/18: What’s iHeart Doing With Identical Cleveland Translators?

iHeartMedia currently has two translators from the AM Revitalization Waiver Period seeking identical facilities on 106.9 in Cleveland OH. On August 1, iHeart applied to move what was originally 94.7 W234BW Parkersburg WV to Cleveland rebroadcasting News/Talk 1100 WTAM with 195w vertical/213m. Over the course of the two waiver periods, iHeart had seven translators that it applied to move to different destinations in each. W293CW was one of those where it was granted a Construction Permit to relocate to Marion OH as 106.5 W293CW rebroadcasting 1490 WMRN. On top of that the translator was given a six month extension of its CP to extend the time it had to be built from expiring on March 15 to September 15.

Valley 105.1 Launches In Palm Springs

Sunnylands Broadcasting has launched Classic Hits “Valley 105.1” KVGH North Shore/Palm Springs, CA. After testing/stunting with Christmas music, the new format is focusing on pop hits of the 1960s and 70s. KVGH is being programmed by Broadcast Partners’ Ken Moultrie. The new format will go up against R&R Broadcasting Oldies 98.5 KDES and Alpha Media’s Classic Hits “106.9 The Eagle” KDGL. KVGH is the former 105.3 KQCM Twentynine Palms. It is not done with its planned moves. KVGH applied last week for a city-of-license change to Bermuda Dunes and a move to the tower utilized by CBS’ “Sunny 103.1” KEZN Palm Desert. KVGH would operate with 1.5kW at 198 meters (Coverage Map).

Station Moves iHeartMedia Country “Wild Country 97.1” KYWD Green Valley/Tucson applies to relocate to the tower site utilized by 88.5 KFLT and 92.1 KCMT where it will operate with 25kW at 100 meters (Coverage Map). S & H Broadcasting’s 105.1 KVGH North Shore, CA (formerly KQCM) is seeking one final move in the Palm Springs market.
