Old School 105.3 Charlotte Moves To Urban AC

Urban One has shifted Urban Oldies “Old School 105.3” WOSF Gaffney SC/Charlotte NC to Urban AC “105.3 Old School & R&B“. The move comes with a playlist change from focusing on R&B from the 1970s through 1990s to 1980s through now. No changes to the station’s airstaff which includes the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Chirl Girl in middays, and Eddie Owens in afternoons. Radio-One Debuts Old School 105.3 In Charlotte

Radio-One took over operations of 105.3 WNOW-FM Charlotte today and launched Urban Oldies “Old School 105.3“. The station which had been airing a Regional Mexican format as “Poder 105.3” will now focus on R&B Hits of the 70s and 80s. 105.3 began stunting with construction sounds this morning before launching the new format at 5:00pm. Listen to the debut of Old School 105.3 at FormatChange.com. The company runs a similar format on 94.5 KSOC Dallas. However, it appears that this will lead to a coming change as sister Urban AC “My 92.7” WQNC. Radio-One Expands In Charlotte

Radio-One, via a wholly owned subsidiary entitled Charlotte Broadcasting has acquired 1500 WZZQ, 104.3 W282AX, and 105.3 WNOW-FM Gaffney SC/Charlotte from Gaffney Broadcasting. As part of the sale, Radio-One will begin programming the stations via LMA on Tuesday, September 4 following the termination of the existing Time Brokerage Agreement with Davidson Media. As part of the $7.75 Million purchase, Radio-One will attempt to spinoff 1500 WZZQ and its 104.3 translator in Gaffney to a third party. If successful prior to closing of the sale, $250,000 will be reduced from the purchase price. Radio-One will also pay $50,000 a month in LMA fees.
