Radio 105.7 Atlanta Rebrands As Alt 105.7

The invasion of the “Alt” branded radio stations continues as iHeartMedia has rebranded “Radio 105.7” WRDA Canton/Atlanta GA as “Alt 105.7“. Coming with new “Altanta’s Rock Alternative” and “A-L-T for A-T-L” positioners, the move is as an attempt to revitalize the format in what was once a strong Alternative market during the 1990s heyday of “99X” WNNX. WRDA ranked eighteenth in the market with a 1.8 share in the November Nielsen Audio ratings.

Alternative Returns To Atlanta

Update 12:05pm: Alternative Rock officially returned to Atlanta a little after 12:00pm as Clear Channel formally launched “Radio 105.7“. With imaging/presentation similar in vein to sister “Radio 104.5” WRFF Philadelphia, the station is taking a broader approach to the format than recent attempts in the market. Former “Project 96.1” host Aly, who recently returned to Clear Channel at Classic Rock “101.3 The Brew” Grand Rapids was among the first voices heard on the station. She will regularly heard in mornings from 5-10am. The rest of the lineup will feature Roche from 10am-1pm, Jordin Silver from 1-4pm, Mike Jones 4-9pm, and Kevin from 9pm-1am. Listen to the debut of “Radio 105.7” at FormatChange.com. The first hour of “Rad...[Read More]

Is Clear Channel Planning An Atlanta Shuffle?

Update 8/29 7:30pm: Just after 7:00pm, 96.1 dropped its “Project” format and has begun stunting for an hour leading into the launch of “Power 96.1“. Update 8/29 5:30pm: 96.1 WKLS will flip to CHR as “Power 96.1“. Power961.com was registered earlier this week and currently features a full site for “Atlanta’s New Hit Music Station”. The site seems to indicate a more Mainstream CHR approach to what Clear Channel is currently doing on “Wild 105.7/96.7“. The current occupant of 96.1, Alternative “Project 9-6-1” which we expect to relocate to 105.3, is promoting what can best be described as “a sad announcement” at 7:20 Thursday morning. Update 8/9: Clear Channel has registered an additional four domains ei...[Read More]
