The long awaited shuffle involving dozens of stations in Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming is coming closer to completion. FCC Docket 05-243 was originally applied for by Millcreek Broadcasting in July 2005 and approved by the FCC in January 2008. The two iHeartMedia stations affected by the move have announced the dates that they will be making their move to new frequencies. “Rock 106.5” KAAZ Spanish Fork will make its move to 106.7 on Thursday, August 6 at 12:00pm. The station has already begun using its new “Rock 106.7” logo on its website and social media. Sister Conservative Talk 105.7 KNRS-FM Centerville will make its move to 105.9 two months later on Thursday, October 8. The move of KAAZ will allow Alpha Media to make its shift of “Latino 106.1” K...[Read More]

The long gestating FCC Docket 05-243 that will see stations in four states relocate to new frequencies is starting to take place. Originally filed in July 2005 and approved by the FCC in January 2008, the docket will mainly see many stations in the Salt Lake City market upgrade and/or move to new frequencies. The first batch of moves have begun to be completed as SLC Divestiture Trust II’s 106.9 KEGH Brigham City has moved to 107.1 in Woodruff from Humpy Peak. The station is currently simulcasting Broadway Media’s “ESPN 700” KALL North Salt Lake City. That move will enable EMF Broadcasting’s 107.5 KKLV Orem to move to Kaysville from the Farnsworth Peak tower site used by many of the stations in the market and Broadway Media’s “Mix 107.9” KUDD...[Read More]
Clear Channel has flipped “My Country 105.7” KTMY Salt Lake City to its Spanish AC “La Preciosa” format. LaPreciosa1057.com was registered earlier this week and currently points to the My Country site. KTMY is currently the lowest rated of four Country stations in the Salt Lake City market, registering a paltry 0.9 in the most recent ratings period. Bustos Media’s 102.3 KDUT is the only other Spanish FM in the heavily Hispanic market (12% of population).
As we hinted at on October 14, Clear Channel AAA KXRV “River 105.7” has indeed become “My Country 105.7” at midnight Mountain Time segueing from David Bowie’s “Changes” into Sara Evans’ “Born to Fly”. We should note that Clear Channel already has Hot AC KJMY in the market using the “My 99.5” branding. Will be interesting to see if the stations are promoted as a combo.
We reported last week on the pending change at AAA KXRV Salt Lake City to Country. As you can see above, the new format’s website now has a logo to go along with it. A station insider has told RadioInsight that the change to Country will occur within the next two weeks. We will note that Clear Channel also registered “MyRock1057.com” last week which forwards to the Country website. In Detroit, earlier this month CBS launched a simulcast of Sports 1270 WXYT on now 97.1 WXYT-FM. At the time the plan was to brand the stations as “Detroit’s Sports Powerhouse”. Now it looks as though another repackaging could be in order. CBS has registered the following domains for the stations, none of which are active yet: 1270AMTHETICKET.COM 1270THETICKET.COM 971AMTHETICK...[Read More]
Struggling AAA “105.7 The River” KXRV Salt Lake City may be on its last legs. Clear Channel has registered MyCountry1057.com and has tied it to KXRV’s calls. How do we tie this to Salt Lake City and not Clear Channel stations in other markets? The site can also be accessed at KXRV-IP.clearchannel.com and its weather page points to Salt Lake City. KXRV’s is located at the bottom of the ratings pack lately; registering a 1.1 in the Spring book. Interestingly, Clear Channel sister Hot AC 99.5 KJMY already uses the “My” branding in the Salt Lake market. Salt Lake City is currently home to four other Country stations. Citadel’s 93.3 KUBL “The Bull” is tied for 2nd in the market at 5.5 12+, Citadel Classic Country 107.5 KKAT was at a 2.2, and ...[Read More]
