People Moves 1/24: Alpha Makes Cuts In A Few Markets

Alpha Media has made some talent cuts at its Bakersfield CA and Biloxi MS clusters. In Bakersfield, Conservative Talk 1560 KNZR/97.7 KNZR-FM has parted ways with 12-3pm host Jaz McKay and 3-6pm host Inga Barks. McKay was in the news last week for racist comments he made on Facebook in regards to the number of Spanish language stations in Bakersfield. Sean Hannity has been added to fill the 12-3pm slot while the station’s website now lists Terry Maxwell in the 3-6pm slot. In Biloxi, afternoon host Riley Knight is out at Rock 97.9 WCPR while Valerie Kattz exits her early afternoon shift at CHR “107.1 The Monkey” WXYK and as afternoon traffic reporter at the cluster. Jack Diamond Joins WLS-FM Chicago

Update 10/30: As has been long expected after exiting his short-lived position in San Diego, Jack Diamond is joining Cumulus Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM Chicago for mornings beginning Monday, November 3. Diamond will join incumbents Brant Miller and Marti Jones in the 5:30-9am timeslot. He had a one week audition for the job back in July before choosing to go to San Diego instead. After leaving the job at “105.7 Max-FM” XHPRS-FM after just two weeks to return to his family in Washington D.C., Diamond will now make the move to Chicago. 105.7 The Walrus San Diego Revamps As Max-FM

Update 8/15: As we first reported in early July, Broadcast Company of America’s Classic Hits “105.7 The Walrus” XHPRS-FM Tecate MX/San Diego will relaunch on Monday as “105.7 Max-FM“. The rebranding accompanies the station’s musical shift to hits of the late 70s through early 90s. Jack Diamond has been named the new morning host at Max following John Nolan’s exit a few weeks ago. Diamond, best known for his 24 year run at “Mix 107.3” WRQX Washington DC previously worked in the San Diego market in mornings at Country 97.3 KSON before heading to Washington.
