ESPN Deportes New York Debuts

Update 9/7: 1050 WEPN has launched its new “ESPN Deportes New York” format. In addition to the national ESPN Deportes programming, the station will feature two local programs daily. “Firma ESPN” will run in mornings from 7 to 10am hosted by Renato Bermudez, Ernesto Jerez, and Jorge Ebro. “Zona ESPN NY” will air from 2-4pm hosted by Carolina Guillen, Sebastian Christensen, and Enrique Rojas. The station will also air all New York Jets football games in spanish. ESPN To LMA 98.7 WRKS New York From Emmis

Update 4/30: “ESPN New York 98.7” debuted as announced at 12:00am as Kiss-FM signed off after a farewell weekend. The final song on Kiss was Brother’s Gonna Work It Out by Willie Hutch. Listen to the change of Kiss-FM to ESPN at FormatChange.com. Along with the change to the primary feed, 98.7 HD2 is now rebroadcasting ESPN Deportes Radio and 98.7 HD3 is a simulcast of the ESPNews television network. Rumor Mill: ESPN To Finally Add New York FM?

Update 4:30pm: The New York Daily News’ Bob Raismann also chimes in on the rumors, adding that WEPN will make adjustments to its lineup next week. The Daily News’ Mike Lupica would move his 2pm hour show to 12pm with Stephen A. Smith moving from nights to 1-3pm with Ryan Ruocco. Ruocco’s current co-host in the 12-2pm slot, Robin Lundberg would move to weekends where he’d be paired with former Tennis star Patrick McEnroe. Raismann adds that should ESPN gain a full market FM for WEPN, 1050 will shift to Spanish Sports “ESPN Deportes Radio“. SportsRadio 95.7 San Francisco Staffs Up

Entercom’s “SportsRadio 95.7” KBWF San Francisco has begun to add permanent on-air hosts to its lineup, with August 1 set as relaunch day. San Francisco 49ers analyst Eric Davis will join the station for 2-6pm. Davis, who also played for the 49ers and three other NFL teams will remain on 49ers radio broadcasts. Davis will be joined by Brandon Tierney, formerly of “ESPN New York” 1050 WEPN. John Lund has left his 12-3pm slot at Portland’s “750 The Game” KXTG for the 10am to 2pm slot on KBWF. This trio will be joined by Dan Dibley, who jumped from crosstown KNBR in late May as new hires by KBWF PD Jason Barrett. 107.1 WLIR To Simulcast ESPN 1050 New York

One week after announcing an LMA to simulcast on 1040 WCHR Flemington, NJ, Disney’s “1050 ESPN” WEPN New York adds a third signal with an LMA of 107.1 WLIR Hampton Bays, NY. WLIR covers the eastern end of Long Island as well as being audible in portions of Southern Connecticut. WLIR dropped its Alternative Rock format earlier this month and has been simulcasting sister Dance “Party 105.3” WDRE. The ESPN simulcast will begin on Monday, January 21.
