With the exit of PD/Afternoon host Brandon O’Brien, Sinclair Communications Country “US 106.1” WUSH Poquoson/Norfolk VA has promoted two staffers. Dave Parker, a member of the station’s airstaff since its launch in 2007, will add Program Director duties and an expanded 1030am-3pm airshift. Until earlier this month Parker also hosted a 10am-12pm talk show on sister News/Talk 790 WNIS. He previously worked as a television weatherman in the Norfolk market. ‘Some Guy Named Allen’ Fabijan will move from nights to afternoons to fill O’Brien’s airshift. Original Post 12/14: VARTV.com reports 106.1 WNRJ Poquoson, VA dropped its “Energy” moniker just before 2pm today as it segued from N’Sync “Bye Bye Bye” in to Garth Brooks “The Thunder Rolls” as it began stunting as “Garth 106”. The 106.1 frequency has been a rotating wheel of formats since signing on in March 2004. Since adopting the “Energy” moniker in September 2006 it has had runs as Rhythmic AC, Rhythmic CHR, and Hot AC.
