As part of its bankruptcy restructuring plan Cumulus Media will be forced to divest four stations as it loses its grandfathered status. Cumulus did not disclose any new details of its restructuring plan with the FCC, rather using it to try to gain pre-approval from the commission to eliminate any delay as it attempts to get out of bankruptcy as quickly as possible. The company states that outside of its officers and directors only one party will have attributable interest in the company with one unnamed company having the right to vote nearly 11% of the Class A Common Stock of the restructured company. Cumulus Media is shutting off “TalkRadio 1470” WTOD Toledo OH tonight and potentially turning in the station’s license. The WTOD programming will remain in place however as the all-syndicated Talk lineup will replace Alternative “100.7 The Zone” on 100.7 W264AK Toledo/105.5 WQQO-HD2 starting Wednesday, September 28 at 12pm. The station’s lineup includes Imus In The Morning, Chris Plante, Jonathan Brandmeier, Dave Ramsey, Mark Levin, and Michael Savage. WTOD has been operating via Special Temporary Authority since August 2003, however its most recent extension is set to expire on Sunday, September 25. Update 10/15: Cumulus has announced that Bill Michaels, Program Director of Classic Rock 94.5 WXKR and Alternative “100.7 The Zone” W264AK will add on additional duties programming 106.5 WLQR-FM and Conservative Talk 1470 WLQR replacing the departed Wamer. Market Manager Andy Stuart shot down the suggestion of further changes to 106.5 WLQR-FM he made yesterday by telling the Toledo Blade that the station would remain a CBS Sports Radio affiliate. Cumulus will break 1470 WLQR Toledo off of its simulcast of Sports “106.5 The Ticket” WLQR-FM and flip it to Talk on Monday, August 13. The new “TalkRadio 1470” will run the Cumulus Media Networks suite of talkers including Imus In The Morning, Geraldo Rivera, Mike Huckabee, John Batchelor, Mark Levin, and Red Eye Radio. The station will continue to carry Bowling Green University basketball and football and Detroit Tigers baseball. The new format will put WLQR in direct competition with Clear Channel’s 1370 WSPD.
