Alternative Resistance Emerges In Madison

Midwest Family Broadcasting has brought Alternative Rock back to Madison WI with the launch of “The Resistance 106.7” WRIS-FM Mount Horeb. The station had been simulcasting sister Sports “The Zone” 1670 WOZN Madison, which has launched new translator 96.7 W244DR to continue to serve the market on FM. Madison has been without an Alternative station since 2005, when 96.3 WMAD flipped to Country despite being one of the largest college towns in the country where the format usually performs well. WTDY Madison Dismisses Staff; Flips To Christmas

Update 11/30: Midwest Family has applied to change the calls of WTDY and WTDY-FM to WOZN and WOZN-FM respectively. Concurrently the following domains have been registered pretty much confirming the stations will flip to Sports after the holidays: 1067WOZN.com, 1670WOZN.com, 1670TheZone.com, and MadCitySportsZone.com. Update 12/13: 1670 WTDY began its simulcast on 106.7 this morning as the former WWQN becomes WTDY-FM. Original Report 10/26:Madison, WI will soon be gaining an additional News/Talk station on FM. Based on a number of domain registrations made yesterday by Midwest Family Communications, 1670 WTDY will soon replace the simulcast of sister Country “Q106.3” WWQM on 106.7 WWQN. Registrations were made for 1067FMWTDY.com, 1067WTDY.com, and NewsTalk1067FM.com along with their .net variations. Additionally, WWQM has applied for new WTDY-FM calls. 106.7, licensed to Mount Horeb, WI rimshots the Madison metro from 25 miles west of the city.
