Hot Hits Debuts In Monterey

Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters has broken its “Z Country 97.9/106.7” simulcast in Monterey, CA. While the Country format continues on 97.9 KYZZ Salinas, 106.7 K294CA Monterey/KYZZ-HD2 has flipped to CHR “Hot Hits 106.7“. The September 1 launch places K294CA between Mapleton Communications Adult CHR “101.7 The Beach” KCDU and iHeartMedia Rhythmic CHR 102.5 KDON. KYZZ had begun simulcasting on 106.7 in March to improve its coverage in and around Monterey. The station relocated to a new tower site right outside Monterey last month while increasing from a Class A to B1 negating the need for the simulcast anymore.

Alt Rock Out In Monterey As Z Country Expands

Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters has pulled the plug on Alternative “Alt Rock 106.7” K294CA Monterey, CA. K294CA is now simulcasting sister Country “Z Country 97.9” KYZZ Salinas. The Alternative format had launched in June 2014 being fed by KYZZ-HD2. With 106.7’s coverage area completely within KYZZ’s we do wonder if the new simulcast is the permanent plan. Mount Wilson had registered HotHits1067.com last December and it is currently redirecting to KYZZ’s site.

Alt 106.7 To Launch In Monterey

With 106.7 and 95.1 giving redundant coverage of Monterey, K294CA will flip to Alternative “Alt 106.7” on Monday, June 9. The station is currently stunting with a loop of 25 songs the new format will feature. Mount Wilson GSM Kane Biscaya told Monterey County Weekly, “We felt there was a big hole in the alternative rock market. There’s no station really hitting the college, high school and even young adult markets right now and thereR...[Read More]
