WSRQ Sarasota To Flip To Oldies

Jim Lampl’s Florida Talk Radio LLC will flip Talk 1220 WSRQ/106.9 W295BH Sarasota FL to Oldies on Friday, June 29 at 5:00pm. WSRQ will be rebranded as “Hitland SRQ” with a focus on 1960s and 70s music as the Hitland show that currently airs from 9pm-12am on the station becomes the full-time format. The station will retain its local “Suncoast Mornings” show from 7-9am hosted by Kaylene McCaw and David Wolfe. In a statement announcing the change, owner Jim Lampl explained, “The change is motivated by a desire to shut off the megaphone that talk radio provides to strident voices. For too long, some of the most popular national programs have also been the most divisive.”
