FM Sports Returns To Evansville

Weeks after Townsquare Media flipped Sports “ESPN 105.3” WJLT Evansville IN to AC “My 105.3“, The Original Company has flipped a pair of its stations to fill the void. 106.7 WYFX Mount Vernon IN drops its simulcast of sister Classic Hits 107.1 WJPS Boonville to become “Fox Sports 106.7” and will be joined by former Classic Country 1590 WRCY Mount Vernon. Both stations will carry the national Fox Sports Radio lineup, but break away for different play-by-play. WYFX will carry Indiana Pacers basketball, Indianapolis Colts football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Indiana University and Mater Dei high school games. WRCY carries Purdue University and Mount Vernon high school games.

WEJK Evansville Flipping To Classic Hits

Update 8/31: The Original Company will flip Variety Hits “107.1 Jack-FM” WEJK to “Classic Hits 107.1” when it begins operating the station on Monday, September 1. WEJK will fill the void created when Townsquare Media flipped 105.3 WJLT to Sports in July. Dave Westrich, who exited WJLT after the flip will join WEJK for afternoons. The Evansville Courier & Press reports the station will be jockless in all other dayparts for now, but feature hourly news updates from 6am to 12pm and at 4 and 5pm. Midwest Communications Acquires South Central

Update 6/2: Midwest is paying $72 million for the nine South Central stations. Original Report 5/28: Midwest Communications is expanding to the South Central as it acquires South Central Communication’s 9 stations in three markets for an undisclosed price. As first reported this morning by Tom Taylor Now, the deal comes following the collapse of a long expected purchase of South Central’s stations by Summit Media. The purchase will expand Midwest beyond its existing footprint into Evansville, Knoxville, and Nashville.
