Two Cumulus Media programmers are swapping stations as Rob Roberts is promoted to Vice President/Hot AC for the company. Jake McCann has been promoted to the VP/Market Manager position from his role as Vice President of Sales for the cluster. Cumulus announced this morning that 107.3 WRQX Washington DC will revert to its former “Mix 107.3” identity on Friday, November 13. The relaunch will take place with a shift to Christmas music for the holiday season and the return of former morning host Jack Diamond. Diamond hosted mornings at WRQX during its previous “Mix” run from 1990 until 2013 when the station made its move to CHR. He will be joined in mornings by former co-hosts Jimmy Alexander and Erica Hilary. Jeffries had served as SVP/Programming for Cumulus since 2007 and at one point was heavily involved in the on-air sound of all of the company’s music stations. Just shy of hitting their one year anniversary in the Washington market, Cumulus CHR “All The Hits 107.3” WRQX is dropping the Bert Weiss led syndicated Bert Show at the end of the week. DCRTV.com reports that the station will shift afternoon host Marco to mornings on an interim basis while searching for a new locally-based replacement. The move comes as new Program Director Rick Gillette begins to make his mark on the station. WRQX has struggled since replacing Jack Diamond with Bert last May and then shifting from Hot AC to CHR in August. The station registered a 2.1 share in the March 2014 PPMs, well behind Clear Channel’s “Hot 99.5” WIHT’s 7.2.
