Vanguard Media has completed the upgrade of its Albuquerque translator giving its Classic Hits station improved coverage and a new FM frequency. The former “Kool 107.5” K298BK Sandia has moved to 94.5 as K233CG with an upgrade from 99 to 250 watts. The translator is fed from 1550 KRKE Albuquerque. With the move and signal upgrade, the new “Kool 94.5” has tweaked its programming from Oldies to focus on music from the 1970’s and 80’s. The move places the station closer musically to American General Media’s “Big 98.5” KABG Los Alamos which rimshots Albuquerque from the north.
Vanguard Media has swapped the formats and call letters of its two ALbuquerque AM’s. Talk “The Rock Of Talk” 1550 KIVA shifts to 1600, while Classic Hits “Cool 107.5” KRKE goes in reverse. The move places the Talk format on the 1600 signal that operates with 10kW daytime and 175 watts at night from just south of the city. 1550 operates with 10kW daytime and just 27 watts at night, but will now be paired with the 107.5 translator (K298BK Sandia) that covers the whole city and adjacent towns. The 107.5 translator currently has a Construction Permit to upgrade from 99 watts to 250 watts with a move to 94.5. KIVA will soon be paired with 98.9 K255AU Corrales which will operate with 99 watts from the same location as 107.5.
Another Clear Channel AM News/Talk is making the move to FM via translator. Radio Training Network’s 95.3 W237DI West Tampa, FL has applied to move to 105.9 with a power boost from 115 to 250 watts at 456 feet. The application also shifts the originating programming station to Clear Channel’s 970 WFLA. The EMF/Clear Channel duo are working on an additional move-in in Cincinnati. 96.9 W245AJ Forest Park, OH has applied to move to downtown Cincinnati where it will rebroadcast Clear Channel’s WKFS-HD2. We’ve noticed a trend where translators to be programmed by EMF have their applications prepared by EMF’s engineers and translators prepared by Clear Channel end up being programmed by Clear Channel despite who owns the translator. This application was prepared by ...[Read More]
