Entercom Alternative “107.7 Alternative Buffalo” WLKK Wethersfield Township, NY will add a second signal on Monday, May 11 to better reach listeners in Buffalo proper. 104.7 W284AP Buffalo will begin airing the Alternative format via 102.5 WTSS-HD2. The translator recently completed an upgrade to 250 watts at 103 meters where it covers the east side of Buffalo including the area around the University of Buffalo (Coverage Map). Entercom purchased W284AP last year from Family Life Ministries for $125,000. WLKK rimshots the Buffalo market and received a 1.4 share in the Winter 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings.

The station is promoting itself for new music discovery and will fill the hole in the market left when Cumulus’ “103.3 The Edge” WEDG segued from Alternative to Active Rock years ago. The addition of the FM simulcast of WBEN will significantly improve the reach of the station as the leading radio source for news, information and talk on the radio in Buffalo. While Buffalo is a strong AM market and WBEN is a ratings leader, the addition of the FM simulcast will make the WBEN brand more readily available to a vast majority of the listening public who spend time on the FM band.
