After a brief simulcast of Country “97.9 The Moose” WZXP Au Sable, A&J Radio has launched 50s/60s Oldies “Mid-Century Radio” on 1070 WPLB (formerly WTWK) and 103.7 W242BS Plattsburgh NY. The format moves from Northeast Broadcasting’s “Channel 98” 1390 WCAT/98.3 W252CJ Burlington and 1420 WRSA St. Albans VT which are now Silent. A&J Radio, headed by Aaron & Jessica Ishmael, purchased WTWK and W242BS from Northeast Broadcasting in July 2016 for $140,000. The company also leases 97.9 WZXP from Randy Michaels’ Radioactive LLC.
Station Sales Starboard Media Foundation is acquiring multiple stations in Fort Myers FL. Starboard will acquire Classic Country “Twang 106.7” 1410 WMYR Fort Myers and 106.7 W294AN Fort Myers Beach from Mark Follett’s Gulf Breeze Radio License LLC for $546,733.82. The Catholic operator will also purchase AC “98FM Marco Island” 1480 WVOI and Spanish CHR “Ardiente Radio” 1660 WCNZ Marco Island from Almodovar Media Corporation for the assumption of the $356,266.18 owed on the promissory note by Almodovar to previous owner J&B WCNZ/WVOI LLC. Starboard will begin operating WMYR/W294AN and WCNZ via LMA on Monday, August 1 with their “Relevant Radio” Catholic programming.
