WCAR Detroit Shifts To Yahoo! Sports

Birach Broadcasting’s 1090 WCAR Livonia/Detroit is switching to its third Sports network in less than a year. Last July WCAR dropped ESPN Radio in favor of NBC Sports Radio as the ESPN affiliation was pulled to move to Greater Media’s 105.1 WMGC. Now the station will drop NBC on Monday, May 12 to shift to Gow Communications’ Yahoo! Sports Radio. The station will broadcast the Yahoo! lineup around the clock. 105.1 Detroit Sports Rumors Heating Up

Update 7/13: With the growing expectation that Greater Media will flip 105.1 WMGC to Sports with an ESPN affiliation, one of the first shoes has dropped. Birach Broadcasting’s “ESPN Detroit” 1090 WCAR has given up the affiliation with the Worldwide Leader and signed on with NBC Sports Radio as of 10pm last night. That will clear the way for WMGC to pick up the ESPN affiliation.
