iHeart Launches 1090 KJR and South Sound Talk 850 Seattle

iHeartMedia has made changes at two of its Seattle area stations. Sports “1090 The Fan” KFNQ has relaunched as “1090 KJR” as a brand extension of Sports 950 KJR. Meanwhile 850 KHHO Tacoma flipped from a mix of NBC and Fox Sports Radio programming to Conservative Talk “South Sound Talk 850“. 1090 KJR will carry Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, and Doug Gottlieb from 6am to 3pm while retaining the previous CBS Sports Radio programming from 3pm-6am. In the third spin-off announced as part of its DOJ settlement, Entercom will trade its remaining Boston and Seattle spin-offs to iHeartMedia for their clusters in Richmond VA and Chattanooga TN. iHeartMedia will receive CBS Radio’s News/Talk 1030 WBZ, Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX and Entercom’s Talk 680 WRKO and Urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF in Boston and Variety Hits 96.5 Jack-FM” KJAQ, Classic Rock 102.5 KZOK, Sports “CBS Sports 1090” KFNQ in Seattle. Entercom Narrows Down 16 Stations To Be Divested To Complete CBS Radio Merger

In order to complete its merger with CBS Radio, Entercom has agreed to divest sixteen stations in order to ensure regulatory approval. In a memo sent to CBS Radio employees CEO Andre Fernandez revealed that the following stations will be divested: Boston: CBS Radio’s News/Talk 1030 WBZ, Sports “98.5 The Sports Hub” WBZ-FM, Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX and Entercom’s Talk 680 WRKO and Urban AC “The New 97.7” WKAF. CBS Cuts Hit Miami & Pittsburgh

The names of the people who have been cut from CBS Radio in the past week continue to make their way out. Sports 560 WQAM Miami has dropped Adam Kuperstein and former Miami Dolphin Channing Crowder from their 1-3pm show. Orlando “Big O” Alzugaray adds an additional hour to run 10am-2pm, Marc Hochman with Zach Krantz slides up an hour to run 2-6pm, while Alex Donno will host 6-10pm. Do Social Media Likes Lead To Ratings: Part 1

One week after the launch of Country “94.7 Nash-FM” New York the first thing we noticed were the amount of people that quickly began following the station on social media. Seven days into operation WNSH already has 8894 likes on Facebook and 2356 Twitter followers*. To put it into comparison, top rated AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW has just 18,442 likes. The most liked New York radio station on Facebook belongs to “Hot 97” WQHT with 275,516. While we are unable to parse any demographic info from the amount of likes, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that a younger skewing station has 10 times as many followers as an office friendly background station. 1090 KPTK Seattle Gets New Calls; To Join CBS Sports Radio

On the heels of Clear Channel dropping Liberal Talk from 620 KPOJ Portland in favor of Sports, CBS will follow suit at 1090 KPTK Seattle. As of today the station has changed call letters to KFNQ, with a likely branding of “The Fan” to match many of its CBS Radio brethren coming. SeaTacRadio.com is reporting that Talk 1180 KLAY Lakewood/Tacoma will pick up the syndicated Ed Schulz and Stephanie Miller following 1090’s shift to Sports in January. The Everett Post run by the operator of two stations in that city states that KFNQ will add a local afternoon show. KPTK registered a 0.8 share of the audience in the October ratings.
