Just seven months after exiting iHeartMedia Sports “1130 The Fan” WDFN Detroit in a round of budget cuts, Matt Shepard is returning to mornings at the station. Shepard is bringing his recently launched podcast Shep, Shower & Shave to the station for 6-9am starting Monday, November 20. He previously hosted mornings at WDFN with Jamie Samuelsen and Gregg Brady from 2001-2007 and then solo from 2009 through earlier this year. He is also play-by-play voice of University of Michigan basketball and Eastern Michigan University football. The Detroit News reports that the show will originate from GM’s OnStar Studios at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit with the intent to syndicate the show across Michigan.
As part of its massive downsizing today, Clear Channel has announced major programming changes at a number of its large market sports stations as well as its Fox Sports Radio unit. In Los Angeles, Sports By Brooks reports that 570 KLAC’s programming will be merged into the national Fox Sports Radio. FSR middayers (9am to 12pm Eastern) Craig Shemon and James Washington will be replaced by Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks taking over the distribution of The Content Factory’s Dan Patrick Show. KLAC night hosts Petros Papadakis and Matt Smith will replace Krystal Fernandez and Andrew Siciliano in the 7pm – 10pm Eastern slot.
