The simulcast replaces Classic Rock “96.1 The Planet” on the translator. WRVA previously simulcast on 98.5 W253BI from May 2014 until its July 2015 flip to Country. Entercom has made its first move at its recently acquired Richmond VA cluster by appointing John Reid as morning host at News/Talk 1140 WRVA. Reid joins WRVA from the Veterans Administration and SiriusXM’s Conservative Talk “Patriot” where he hosted nights. He had a long run in Richmond as a television investigative reporter and morning news anchor at WRIC from 1994-2004. He fills the opening created by Jimmy Barrett’s move to 740 KTRH Houston in August. Jimmy Barrett is leaving mornings at iHeartMedia News/Talk 1140 WRVA Richmond VA after 16 years to move to the company’s 740 KTRH Houston. Barrett will join Shara Fryer as co-anchor of “Houston’s Morning News” from 5-8am weekdays. He fills the opening that was last held by the late Matt Patrick prior to his passing last month. Barrett also spent time at WJR Detroit and has served as public address announcer for the Detroit Tigers and Richmond Flying Squirrels. He also previously served as WRVA Program Director. The translator will cover Richmond and its northern and western suburbs with its 250 watt at 220 meters signal (Coverage Map). WRVA ranked seventh in the Richmond market in the Winter 2014 Nielsen Audio ratings with a 4.8 share.
