Radio KCCT Inc. has flipped Americana/Texas Country 1150 KCCT/104.1 K281AV Corpus Christi TX to Classic Hits “Retro 104.1“. Focusing on pop/rhythmic hits of the 1980s and 90s, the new format is going after iHeartMedia’s 70s/80s based Classic Hits “Big 93.9” KMXR Corpus Christi. Ed Ocañas, Program Director of Urban “102.9 The Bomb” KNDA Alice/Corpus Christi, adds those duties for Retro 104.1.
The LMA shuffle spins again at Reina Broadcasting’s 94.7 KBSO Corpus Christi. Since 2013 the station has had three lessees as it flipped from Texas Country “Badlands FM” to Country “My 94.7” to Texas Country “94.7 The Rig” and finally in May to Alternative “94.7 The Shark” after Bogey Broadcasting temporarily lost control of its lease at 106.5 KYRK Taft. Bogey Broadcasting had been operating KBSO and sister 1150 KCCT Corpus Christi since January. The Texas Country “Rig Radio” continues on KYRK. Update 5/20: Resolving whatever issues remained between the companies, Bogey Broadcasting resumed operating 106.5 KYRK Taft/Corpus Christi with the Texas Country “Rig” programming that was moved exclusively to 1150 KCCT earlier this month. The Alternative format that had been heard on 106.5 until earlier this month remains on The Rig’s previous home of KBSO Corpus Christi as “94.7 The Shark“. Update 5/4: Bogey Broadcasting owner Scott Holt has contacted us with a clarification. While the LMA for 106.5 KYRK did come to an end at 2pm Saturday, the company is still under contract to purchase the station and intends to do so.
