More Secret Format Changes Of 2016

A couple weeks ago we rounded up a number of format changes that took place under the radar. Since that report we’ve been tipped off to a number of additional changes. Shortly after Point Broadcasting closed on its acquisition of Rock 99.1 KXFM Santa Maria CA on August 31, the station dropped its format and is currently running a jockless/commercial-free version of the Rhythmic Oldies “Old School” format it operates on 104.7 KOCP Oxnard and 104.7 KQIE Redlands/Riverside and a few other stations in Southern California. Townsquare Media CHR “PopCrush 97.1” KKBR Billings MT relaunched in July as “97.1 Kiss-FM“. Mountain Broadcasting debuted Oldies “Boomer 106.3” K292GH/KMSO-HD3 Missoula MT. Station Sales Week Of 7/3: Disney Exits Sacramento

Radio Disney continues its slow but steady sell-off with the divestiture of 1470 KIID Sacramento to Punjabi American Media for $800,000. The buyer currently leases and is in the process of purchasing 1450 KOBO Yuba City, CA. KIID will join KOBO in running the buyer’s South Asian “Punjabi Radio USA“. American Radio Missions Foundation sells Christian Country “God’s Country 89.7” KRNF Montezuma, IA to VCY America for $251,100. KRNF will be VCY’s first station in Iowa and will air the Christian Preaching programming based at 107.7 WVCY Milwaukee. WFSX To Drop AM Simulcasts

Update 7/22: 1240 WFSX/1270 WNOG dropped their simulcast of 92.5 WFSX-FM this morning and flipped to Sports as “The Fan“. The duo will carry NBC Sports Radio network programming along with CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome. Original Report 7/15: Sun Broadcasting Talk “Fox News 92.5” WFSX-FM Estero/Fort Myers will no longer be heard on AM starting next week. 1240 WFSX Fort Myers and 1270 WNOG Naples will launch a new, as yet unannounced format on Monday, July 22. The trio of stations have been simulcasting since September 2009, when 92.5 dropped its Oldies format to begin simulcasting the AM’s.
