Saul Levine’s Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters continues it shakeup at its Monterey cluster. In the past month Mount Wilson has flipped 97.9 KYZZ from Classical to Country, dropped a short-lived Jazz format on 1240 KNRY/106.7 K294CA for a simulcast of Classical 95.9 KMZT-FM/95.1 K236BK, and announced the acquisition of 103.9 KBOQ. With 106.7 and 95.1 giving redundant coverage of Monterey, K294CA will flip to Alternative “Alt 106.7” on Monday, June 9. We start this update with a number of translator sales. Mount Wilson FM continues its expansion in Monterey, CA with the purchase of 94.7 K234AW Monterey from One Ministries for $90,000. The 18 watt translator holds a CP to relocate to 95.1 as K236BK with 250 watts. Once Mount Wilson closes on its recent purchase of 1240 KNRY Salinas, the translator will be used to bring that station to FM. Mount Wilson also purchased 97.9 KYZZ from Buckley last month. Zimmer Radio will bring News/Talk 950 KWOS Jefferson City, MO to FM following its purchase of 100.9 K265CT from Lifesounds, Inc for $35,000. Saul Levine’s Mount Wilson Broadcasters continues its expansion in Monterey, CA. On the heels of its acquisition of 97.9 KYZZ Salinas, Mount Wilson is purchasing 1240 KNRY Monterey from Immaculate Heart Radio. KNRY operates with a 1kW signal that serves much of the Central California coast due to its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. IHR’s Catholic programming will continue to be heard in the Monterey/Salinas area on 1200 KYAA Soquel, which was donated and began simulcasting KNRY in April. KNRY will join 95.9 KMZT-FM, KYZZ, and another soon to be announced FM acquisition in Mount Wilson’s Monterey/Salinas cluster.
