Genesee Media has launched Talk 1310 WOKR Canandaigua/Rochester NY. WOKR had previously been simulcasting Sports “97.5 The Team” 1590 WRSB Brockport/W248BH Rochester. The two AMs swapped call letters over the summer around the same time that the Sports programming moved to 97.5 from 105.5 W288CS. Programming on WOKR includes This Morning with Gordon Deal, Fox News Radio’s Brian Kilmeade from 9am-12pm and Tom Shillue from 3-6pm, Chad Benson from 6-9pm, Bloomberg Radio in middays and 9-10pm, Business Rockstars from 10pm-12am, and Free Talk Live overnight. Weekend shows are focusing on money, technology, and law.
FCC Decisions The FCC has entered a Consent Decree with Katherine Bohn for an "illegal transfer of control" of News/Talk 1140 KVLI Lake Isabella, Country 102.5 KCNQ Kernville, and Classic Rock 104.5 KRVQ Lake Isabella CA. Bohn will pay $8,000 in a civil penalty over claims by Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa that following a deal to enter a Time Brokerage Agreement to Alta Sierra Broadcasting, the licensee failed to maintain a staff presence at the station. Charles Philome was fined $20,000 for operating a pirate station on 88.7 and 90.1 from multiple locations in Margate and Pompano Beach FL after previously being warned multiple times. Five iHeartMedia translator applications utilized in both waves of the AM Translator Waiver Period have been dismissed and their licenses deleted. 99.3 W257DR Vineland NJ (previously W235BY) was intended to move to 102.5 in Philadelphia, 102.9 W275CI Scotchtown NY (W254CG) with a CP to move to 105.1 Richmond VA, 106.5 W293CW Parkersburg WV (W234BW) moving to 106.9 Cleveland, 104.9 W285FG Shorewood WI (W264CT) moving to 105.5 Dayton OH have all expired but have been replaced with applications to move a new translator to serve those same areas and intended AMs (see below). 92.1 K221GH Portland IA (K258CI) moving to 96.9 Des Moines IA rebroadcasting 1460 KXNT has not been replaced yet.
Genesee Media Corporation has returned 1310 WRSB Canandaigua and 1590 WASB Brockport, NY to a simulcast of each other. The stations had simulcast multiple formats for many years until being broken apart in September when 1590 flipped to Sports. Now 1310 has dumped its short-lived “Business 1310” Business News format to join WASB as “1310/1590 The Team“. The stations are running the national CBS Sports Radio feed around the clock. 1310 WRSB serves the eastern side of the Rochester market with 1kW signal directional to the north. 1590 WASB serves the western side with a 1kW signal directional to the northwest. 1310 is also heard on 105.1 W286AE Fairport, which currently operates with a mere 2 watts, but holds a CP to increase to 250 with a move to 105.5.
