Summit Media has pulled the plug on Variety Hits “102.1 Y’all” 1320 WENN/102.1 W271BN Birmingham. The 102.1 translator is now rebroadcasting sister Gospel “Heaven 610” WAGG, while the 1320 signal is currently silent. The move puts WAGG on even FM ground with iHeartMedia’s “Hallelujah 105.1” WERC-HD2/W286BK. The Y’all format debuted on 97.3 WZNN in July 2013 as a placeholder following the demise of its previous Sports format. In November it moved to the 1320/102.1 duo following the launch of Soft AC “Easy 97.3“.
Update 11/21: Summit launched Soft AC “Easy 97.3” this morning. Former “Magic 96.5” WMJJ midday host Ericka Woode is hosting mornings. The station is promoting “No-Repeat Workdays” from 9am to 6pm daily. New WEZZ call letters are in place. ESPN Radio has dropped its affiliation with Cumulus’ 94.5 WJOX-FM Birmingham and shifted to a pair of Cox stations in the market. Cox’ “97.3 The Zone” WZNN picks up the ESPN national feed for nights and weekends. 1320 WENN and new translator 107.3 W294BL will carry ESPN programming around the clock. Classic Hip-Hop “Power 102.1” W270BW will continue to air the programming that had originated at 1320, with programming now fed off of an HD subchannel of one of Cox’ FMs. Back at WJOX, the ESPN programming will be replaced with Fox Sports Radio until the CBS Sports Radio Network debuts in January.
