Bloomberg Moving To 1330/106.1 In Boston

Bloomberg Radio has announced it will launch on Beasley Media’s 1330 WRCA Watertown/106.1 W291CZ Boston as well as 92.9 WBOS-HD2 Brookline on Tuesday, July 4 at 12:00pm. Bloomberg Radio currently airs in the Boston market on iHeartMedia’s 1200 WXKS Newton/94.5 WJMN-HD2 and that will also continue for the next few months. Bloomberg Radio also airs on a 24/7 basis on its owned 1130 WBBR New York, CBS Radio’s 99.1 WDCH Bowie MD/Washington DC, and iHeartMedia’s 960 KNEW San Francisco. 1330 WRCA dropped its brokered lineup at the end of 2016 to prepare to relaunch with the 106.1 translator. W291CZ signed-on in May and both stations have been rebroadcasting the Irish programming of 96.9 WBQT-HD2 as filler since. Beasley purchased what would become W291CZ from Radio One in...[Read More]

1330 WRCA Boston To Go Silent While Awaiting Translator Launch

Beasley Media is taking Brokered 1330 WRCA Watertown/Boston MA off the air on Tuesday, November 15. In the STA filing made to the FCC, Beasley states that WRCA will be dark for over 30 days as the station moves its studios into the former Greater Media complex in the market. The timing will also allow Beasley to complete construction of 106.1 W291CZ Boston as it completes its move from 94.1 Utica NY. The new 99w/244m signal will operate from the John Hancock tower in downtown Boston. WRCA currently features a mix of Ethnic and Religious programming.

Beasley Continues Boston Expansion

Beasley Media is adding an additional FM signal in Boston with the purchase of the CP for 106.1 W291CZ Boston from Radio-One for $400,000. Radio-One had just purchased the former 94.1 W231BI Utica NY from Educational Media Foundation earlier this year for $40,000 and used the AM Revitalization Waiver to bring it to Boston where it was to rebroadcast 1090 WILD. Beasley will instead apply to have the translator rebroadcast their Brokered 1330 WRCA Watertown. The translator is licensed to operate with 99w/222m from the Prudential Tower in downtown Boston. It will give Beasley an additional FM to go along with the five FMs it will be acquiring from Greater Media.
