Conservative Talk “1260 The Answer” WSDZ Belleville IL has moved to 1380 KXFN/105.3 K287BY St. Louis replacing Health/Wellness Talk “1380 The Pulse“. That move will clear the way for the launch of Gospel “Praise 95.1” on Monday, October 23 on WSDZ and 95.1 K236CS St. Louis. Salem Launches Health & Wellness “1380 The Pulse” St. Louis

Salem Media has launched its second Health & Wellness Talk station as it debuts “1380 The Pulse” KXFN St. Louis. Joining similarly formatted 1570 KDIZ Minneapolis, the KXFN lineup features syndicated hosts including Dr. Daliah, Dr Asa Andrew, and Katherine Albrecht. Salem acquired KXFN fromG rand Slam Sports bankruptcy receiver Detalus Consulting in August for $190,000.

Salem Adds Second St. Louis AM

Following its purchase last year of 1260 WSDZ Belleville IL from the Radio Disney sell-off, Salem Media is acquiring a second station in the St. Louis market. Salem will acquire Silent 1380 KXFN St. Louis from Grand Slam Sports bankruptcy receiver Detalus Consulting for $190,000. Both KXFN and WSDZ will be adding FM translators with the start of the second round of the AM Revitalization Translator Waiver Period. Among the fifteen translators that Salem acquired on Friday for use at AMs across the country were the $40,000 purchase of 104.5 K283CA Festus MO from Missouri River Christian Broadcasting to move to 95.9 in St. Louis rebroadcasting KXFN.

KFNS Returns Just Prior To Last Rites

As the license for Grand Slam Sports 590 KFNS Wood River IL/St. Louis was set to expire next week had the station not return from its one year of silence, the bankruptcy receiver in charge of the station has found a new operator for the station. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that Detalus Consulting, the bankruptcy receiver overseeing KFNS and sister 1380 KXFN St. Louis, has agreed to lease KFNS to Markel Radio Group run by Randy Markel and Scott Gertken, the latter of whom operates the TalkSTL.com programming currently heard on KXFN. Station Sales The Circuit Court of St. Louis County has appointed Detalus Consulting as Bankruptcy Receiver for Grand Slam Sports 590 KFNS Wood River, IL and 1380 KXFN St. Louis. KFNS has been silent since last Halloween following non-payment of its transmitter lease, but has never filed a Silent STA with the FCC. At the time the ownership stated it was in negotiations to sell KFNS to a religious operator. Catholic Radio Network is converting its LMA of 1060 KRCN Longmont/Denver, CO into a purchase as it acquires the station from Pilgrim Communications for $850,000. Meanwhile Catholic Radio Network’s former Denver affiliate has been sold again as Loveland Radio Partners sells 1570 KKCL Loveland, CO to Vic Michael’s Kona Coast Radio for $80,000. KFNS St. Louis Goes Dark; To Be Sold To Religious Group

Grand Slam Sports’ “590 The Man” KFNS Wood River, IL/St. Louis has reached its end. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the station went dark on Friday, October 31 following non-payment of its transmitter lease. Operations Manager Mike Calvin told the paper that the station’s owners are $580,000 in debt and that they are in negotiations to sell the 590 license to a Religious group. KFNS has struggled since the debut of Bonneville’s (Now Hubbard’s) “101 Sports” WXOS in January 2009. In May 2013 it dropped its longtime moniker “590 The Fan” for “590 The Man” and attempted to shift to Hot Talk which was short-lived. Update 4/30: “590 The Man” KFNS and “1380 The Woman” KXFN will both debut on Wednesday, May 1. The full lineup for “The Man” will include current KFNS morning host Tim McKernan remaining in mornings until his deal runs out in July, at which point the station will pick up Bubba The Love Sponge. Simmons Media’s 1380 KSLG St. Louis has announced that effective immediately it is dropping its ESPN Radio affiliation for Fox Sports Radio as “Team 1380”. The station is locally programmed from 6am to 7pm daily. Back in October, crosstown 1190 KRFT announced it would drop its syndicated talk lineup in favor of ESPN Radio.
