After a brief simulcast of Country “97.9 The Moose” WZXP Au Sable, A&J Radio has launched 50s/60s Oldies “Mid-Century Radio” on 1070 WPLB (formerly WTWK) and 103.7 W242BS Plattsburgh NY. The format moves from Northeast Broadcasting’s “Channel 98” 1390 WCAT/98.3 W252CJ Burlington and 1420 WRSA St. Albans VT which are now Silent. A&J Radio, headed by Aaron & Jessica Ishmael, purchased WTWK and W242BS from Northeast Broadcasting in July 2016 for $140,000. The company also leases 97.9 WZXP from Randy Michaels’ Radioactive LLC.
Northeast Broadcasting has expanded its “Point” AAA network in Vermont to a fourth full-powered signal. Classic Hits “Cruisin’ 93.7” WIFY Addison/Burlington joins 104.7 WNCS Montpelier, 95.7 WDOT Danville, 103.1 WRJT Royalton, and three translators in covering the northern two-thirds of Vermont and adjacent parts of New Hampshire and New York. The change took place on September 2. The two AM’s that had been simulcasting WIFY have flipped to Comedy. 1390 WCAT Burlington and 1420 WRSA St. Albans are utilizing the new “Today’s Comedy” network.
