Walnut Radio has closed on their purchase of Soft AC/Standards “Magic 1490” KOMJ Omaha from Cochise Radio Partners. With the sale closing, Walnut Radio has relaunched the station as “Boomer 1490“. The station describes its revamped format as “the greatest music ever made, from the 50’s to today’s crooners! From Elvis to Michael Buble, The Beatles to Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, the Beach Boys, Carpenters and many more of the artists you loved then and you love now!” Cochise had operated the station commercial-free, something that will change now. The station had its fair share of issues as Cochise was fined $17,000 by the FCC for not maintaining studio or public files. A sale to Kona Coast Radio in 2013 never closed.
Steve Seline’s Walnut Radio LLC. has purchased Soft AC/Standards “Magic 1490” KOMJ Omaha from Cochise Radio Partners. KOMJ becomes the fourth Nebraska station purchased by Walnut Radio this year joining “Country 97.3” KBLR-FM Blair, AC “Mix 105.5” KFMT-FM Fremont, and News/Talk 1340 KHUB Fremont. Before forming Walnut Radio LLC, Steve Seline was formerly Vice Chairman of Waitt Media.
