Entercom has flipped Veterans News “Connecting Vets” 1580 WJFK Morningside MD/Washington DC to Spanish Sports “El Zol Deportes“. The station will feature ESPN Deportes Radio programming along with a local show from 3-5pm hosted by Ray Parker. Play-by-play will include Spanish language calls of MLS, UEFA, Liga MX, and FIFA soccer plus ESPN’s MLB, NFL, and NBA programming. CBS Radio Launches Military Veteran Platform On 1580 WJFK

CBS Radio has launched a resource portal for military veterans on ConnectingVets.com that will feature programming on 1580 WJFK Morningside MD/Washington DC. The new service will feature nine hours of live programming on weekdays with it all being made available through the company’s Radio.com and as podcasts. Former Marine Corp. Captain Chas Henry, who previously worked as an anchor for “All News 99.1” WNEW rejoins the company as Managing Editor for ConnectingVets.com. Update 9/11: It took awhile for this one to come to fruition, but CBS will flip “1580 The Big Talker” WNEW to “1580 Gov.Biz Radio” on October 1. The new lineup at the station will feature Business programming from Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, and other syndicated sources as well as locally originated programming. The station’s new lineup is as follows: 5-7am: Bloomberg’s First Word with Ken Prewitt 7-10am: The Daily Briefing with Nancy Lyons. Update 11/2/08: Some snooping on the CBS Webserver has brought us the above image showcasing some of the hosts coming to WPGC. WPHT Philadelphia (which happens to use the same Big Talker branding) morning host Michael Smerconish is featured along with syndicated hosts Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Lou Dobbs, and Dr. Laura. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the new format launch in time for Tuesday’s election.
