WWRL New York Sold/Flips to Indian Programming

Update 2/10: NJ Broadcasting is paying $7 million for WWRL. Original Report 2/1: Access.1 Communications’ 1600 WWRL New York has been sold and entered into an LMA with NJ Broadcasting LLC leading to a flip from Regional Mexican to Indian based programming. WWRL dropped its Regional Mexican “La Invasora” identity this morning and is now airing the “Radio Zindagi” network also heard on CBS’ 1550 KZDG San Francisco and Win Radio’s 950 WCTN Potomac MD. Radio Zindagi was previously heard in New York on 97.1 WQHT-HD2 and two translators serving the large Middlesex County NJ South Asian population. Update 1/5: After stunting with a mix of Spanish and English pop music for a week, WWRL will flip to Regional Mexican “La Invasora 1600” on Monday at 7:00am. The new format will utilize a number of programming services from Superadio Networks, which like WWRL is owned by Access.1 Communications. Among the shows gaining clearance on WWRL are La Invasion Mananera con El Gordo y Mamizukii, Alex “El Genio” Lucas, Tardes con Iliana Sanchez “La Nena,” Erazno y la Chokolata, Hablando Inmigraci√≥n con el Abogado J.
