Station Moves 1TV.com’s “Oldies 97.3 KIKO-FM Claypool/Globe, AZ is attempting to make a move to better reach the east side of the Phoenix market. KIKO-FM seeks to shift to 96.5 and upgrade from a Class C3 to a Class C with 32kW at 981 meters (Coverage Map). To make the move happen, Petracom Hot AC “96.5 The Storm” KRFM Show Low would have to relocate to 98.5 with a downgrade from a Class C to a Class C0 with no changes to its 100kW at 303 meters facilities via a Show Cause Order. Just south of Phoenix, East Valley Institute of Technology applies to downgrade its CP for 88.7 KPNG Chandler from a Class C1 to C3 with 15kW at 113 meters (Coverage Map). The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications has signed a seven year joint sales agreement with Entercom. Effective September 1, Entercom will assume responsibility of advertising sales efforts for Sports “ESPN 850” WRUF and Country “103.7 The Gator” WRUF-FM Gainesville and will provide the school with guaranteed monthly revenue. Entercom already owns News/Talk “97.3 The Sky” WSKY-FM and AC 98.5 WKTK in the Gainesville/Ocala market. The two UF owned stations will retain autonomy over their programming. The University’s non-commercial stations, 89.1 WUFT-FM and WUFT-TV are not involved in this deal.
The University of Florida’s “SportsRadio 850” WRUF Gainesville and SportsTalk LLC’s “ESPN Radio Ocala” 900 WMOP/100.1 W261BA Ocala have announced a partnership that will see the two stations merge their programming effective Friday, June 29. The new “ESPN 850/900” lineup will consist of: 6am-10am: Mike & Mike 10am-12pm: Adam Reardon (Was 8-10am on WMOP) 12pm-2pm: Sportscene With Steve Russell (Was 7-9am on WRUF) 2pm-4pm: Scott Van Pelt 4pm-6pm: Larry Vettel (Was 3-6pm on WRUF) 6pm-7pm: The Cheap Seats (Was 6-7pm on WRUF) All other times: ESPN Radio programming or University of Florida/High School Play-By-Play WMOP programming had been heard in Gainesville on 1230 WGGG. No word yet on what will air there.
