Stephen Kallao Joins World Cafe

University of Pennsylvania AAA 88.5 WXPN Philadelphia has tabbed Stephen Kallao as a contributing host for the NPR distributed World Cafe. Kallao’s duties will include producing on-air and digital special features and interviews with musicians while based at WXPN’s Philadelphia studios. He joins the show from Slacker Radio, where he has served as Director of Imaging since May 2015. Talia Schlanger To Succeed David Dye As Host Of World Cafe

University of Pennsylvania AAA 88.5 WXPN Philadelphia has announced that Talia Schlanger will succeed David Dye as hosted of the syndicated World Cafe in April. Schlanger joined WXPN last summer as a contributing producer from the CBC where she hosted Radio 2 Weekend Morning and multiple digital video projects. She also acted in multiple television and stage productions including the national touring company of Green Day’s American Idiot. Dye has hosted World Cafe since its launch in 1991. After stepping down from regular hosting duties, he will continue to contribute to the show with one interview per week, a music conversation with Schlanger, and Funky Friday dance party. WXPN Philadelphia Acquires WNTI Hackettstown, NJ

Update 10/12: University of Pennsylvania AAA 88.5 WXPN Philadelphia has announced it is the buyer of 91.9 WNTI Hackettstown, NJ from Centenary College. WXPN will pay $1,250,000 in cash and give Centenary $500,000 worth of underwriting over 10 years for the station. WXPN will begin airing its programming on WNTI on Thursday, October 15 at 12:00pm when it begins operating the station via Public Service Operating Agreement. Today Centenary College of Hackettstown, New Jersey and Philadelphia public radio station WXPN 88.5, owned by the University of Pennsylvania, jointly announced a sales agreement and transfer of ownership for the broadcasting license of WNTI 91.9 FM, the public radio station owned by Centenary College, to WXPN.
