Chicago Public Media & WDCB Chicago Reach Interference Settlement

Chicago Public Media and College of Dupage’s Jazz 90.9 WDCB Glen Ellyn IL have reached a settlement over the interference caused by Chicago Public Media’s 91.1 W217BM Chicago that will see the groups start a “creative collaboration”. Chicago Public Media has been operating W217BM with 10 watts/365.2m from the Willis Tower instead of its licensed 99 watts due to interference complaints from WDCB since shortly after its launch in 2014. Chicago Public Media’s 91.3 W217BM Chicago has applied to move to 91.1. The translator will continue to operate with 99 watts from the John Hancock Center and rebroadcasting an HD subchannel of 91.5 WBEZ. The translator’s coverage should cover much of the city of Chicago. Radio-One’s 97.5 WUMJ Fayetteville, GA which serves as part of the Urban AC “Majic 107.5/97.5” Urban AC simulcast has applied for a very minor change to its signal. The station will increase power from 7.9 to 8.5kW while dropping antenna height from 175 to 165 meters.
