New York Islanders Expand Non-Commercial Coverage

As the NHL’s New York Islanders prepare to begin their first season playing in Brooklyn this week, the franchise is expanding their radio network to include NYC Media’s 91.5 WNYE New York. WNYE features a mix of Public Talk, Ethnic programming and a morning simulcast of Fordham University AAA 90.7 WFUV New York. Hofstra University’s 88.7 WRHU Hempstead will begin their six year as flagship for the team’s broadcasts producing the games with Chris King beginning his 22nd season with the team. WFUV Dissolves The Alternate Side

Fordham University AAA 90.7 WFUV New York is shutting down its “Alternate Side” Alternative music HD subchannel/webcast/partial simulcast. The Alternate Side currently airs on the City of New York’s 91.5 WNYE from 6am-12pm weekdays and on WFUV from 10pm-12am weekdays in addition to a 24/7 HD3/webcast. Those will all end on Friday, August 21 as part of a lineup shuffle at WFUV that will see the Alternate Side staffers moved to the primary station. Alisa Ali will take the 6-10pm Monday through Thursday slot currently held by Darren DeVivo, who will slide back to 10pm-2am. Russ Borris will keep the Alternate Side alive as a specialty show on Fridays from 9pm-12am. The other Alternate Side hosts will retain their other duties at the station.
